Impression Obsession - Old is New

With such a huge collection of wonderful stamps from so many artists, sometimes the older stamps in the 免费加速器 find their way out of the spotlight. We don't want them to be forgotten, so we like to feature them regularly. We hope you're inspired!

I've got a beach theme on the brain this weekend - it's probably a sign that I need a vacation! I picked out an older catalog sample from 2017 - this Sea Horse is one of Tara Caldwell's designs, but there are a few to choose from in our catalog HERE.

Here's a closer look at the image - it is colored with Copics and dye inks on Canva-Paper - the surface of this paper is so great for mixing mediums - see there in the background where I lifted out the dye ink after splattering in a little water? Love that. My background panel is a gel print and I used a variety of circle dies to create those bubbles.

I had a couple of tutorial slots this month that I wasn't able to fill, so guess who gets to fill them! I have a list of tutorials from our archives that need video updates, so I chose one from 2008 - it's called 安卓加速器, and it's a classic kissing technique where you twist a secondary stamp on a solid background for a unique texture.

I was able to get 3 cards from a single inking, so that's my addition to Beate's tutorial. I used a solid stamp from Impression Obsession (D6144 Solid Rectangle), a small floral stamp from Penny Black, silhouettes by Dina Wakley, and sentiments from Unity Stamp Co.

Check the tutorial page for the video - you'll see me make all 3 of these backgrounds in just about 2 minutes! This second one was a bonus using the leftover ink on the stamp and an uninked floral stamp.

For this background I misted the stamp to lift the leftover ink. I love this silhouette - but I kind of want to put a clown hat on it.

Hope you're having a good week! I had some big changes of plans that have got my head very full, but we'll muddle through! Cheers!

Impression Obsession - Die Cut Obsession

There are so many amazing dies at Impression Obsession - this special Monday feature lets them have the spotlight! We hope you're inspired!

This was a summer catalog card I hadn't shared - the focal panel is one of our Stitched Pinked Circles, which is a great nesting set for layering with regular circles or showing off an image like this Spring Bicycle! I love this sentiment... it's not true today, but I love it anyway!

Stitched Pinked Circles

My background is just made up of strips of scrap paper - my favorite way to build a background!

Be sure to check out the other designers' blogs for die cutting inspiration - see the I.O. blog for all the details! Have a great week!

Impression Obsession Fall Winter Release Hop Day 3!

免费加速器Impression Obsession team is showcasing new Fall and Winter images that are available NOW!

I hope you've enjoyed our previews this week - what's been your favorite?

One more collection in my release - I did a little word play on "season's greetings" and included several stamps with spices! Many of these can be used year round as well, like the background and sentiment above.

I used a splashy faux watercolor technique for the card above where you ink up a stamp in your stamp positioner, mist with water and then drop the lid down onto the card so the ink splats... in case it's unclear, it's a cup of mulled cider! It is a fun technique.

I thought the 'strong' sentiment was a clever pairing... maybe...? I love how this image turned out, and the top view of the teacup. And the heart at the end of the cinnamon stick, of course.

The Anise stamp has 2 of the stars on it, and I stamped them several times to fill the space. I love how the colored shadows make them pop off the card!

Impression Obsession Fall Winter Release Hop Day 2!

The Impression Obsession team is showcasing new Fall and Winter images that are available NOW! Here's a fun collection I tucked in to the release that can be used year-round.

If you're new to my blog, then you may not know that I'm not only on the Impression Obsession design team - I'm also one of their artists! You can find all my stamps HERE. It's always fun during these blog hops to be able to share my stamps, some thoughts behind them, and some fun ways to use them. When I sit down to create a new release, I try to think of what kind of cards I want to send, and then fill in the gaps from there.

I jumped on a citrus trend in this release - both cards above were created with stamps from new clear sets which both layer for more detail and depth, but can be used without layering as well. Both sets are full of fun lemon-themed sentiments as well (you can get them in red rubber too!). The inks I used are Impression Obsession's Hybrid inks (Banana, Canary and Goldenrod).

Here's a guide for how the lemons layer up - some of the sets will need a trim to separate the leaves into groups of three as well. This is a small pattern that can repeat for a background, or you can use it like I did above, turning the panel a quarter turn each time to create a wreath. You can also use just the solid layer as a background without the additional shading.

One more card using the first layer of the Citrus set as a background, and one of our new die sets! This is a coffee set, but I sketched in some ice cubes and made a takeout cup of lemonade instead.

These stamps were designed back in February before the world turned upside down, so it's interesting to me that they're releasing now when things are particularly dark. Even though this is a fall/winter release, I try to be mindful that we're not all thinking of the holidays in July, so I hope that these heartfelt sentiments and timeless images will be useful to you at any time of year, and will be an encouragement either to you or through you to someone else.

Both cards here are 5" square - they are stamped in grey Versafine Clair ink and watercolored using my favorite Qor watercolors. I love the simplicity of this second card - a good reminder too that not all detailed images need to be colored in completely or at all!

One little fun fact on this image - there's another stamp in the release you might have seen that's a wreath with magnolias and lemons - the pinecone here was built digitally with layers of the magnolia flower art!

Splitcoast Tutorial: Negative Watercoloring

It's my turn to share a tutorial over on Splitcoast, and I've been sitting on this one for a while! I'm sharing the negative watercoloring technique I used on these two cards - I hope you'll head over to the tutorial page to see how it's done!

I dug back to the summer of 2017 for this card! This bear is by Carmen Medlin, and he's colored with Copic markers on my favorite Canva-Paper using a palette blending technique.

I used paper scraps to make a Starburst background - check out my tutorial for that technique HERE - and that sentiment is a two-part deal from this set (remember those sale items - when they're gone they're gone!)

Spellbinders July Large Die Club Kit

I'm back with another club kit project! The July Large Die Kit from Spellbinders is a great all-purpose alphabet set - most of my larger alphabet sets are steel rule dies, so it's nice to have a set with individual dies. The letters are tall and narrow, giving lots of possibilities for longer words and options for longer cards!

I had some fun with this slimline card - mine is 3.5" x 8.5", and that gave me lots of room to play with a set from my 'uninked' bin! This is the Little Painters set from Waffle Flower, and it's full of all kinds of art supplies and little critters to hold on to them. The brushes made a nice border along the length of my card.

When the panel was stamped, colored, and inked, I lined up the letters I needed along the edge of a sticky note. Since I needed the 'E' twice, I placed it in order so I had the spacing right, then moved it to the end for my first cut.

Once the other letters were cut, I could position the second 'E' and run the panel back through my cutter.

I removed the cut letters and replaced them with slightly thicker chipboard cuts, then layered the pieces cut from the panel back into place. The result is an "eclipse" effect, where the letters are replaced but have a little shadow and lift underneath them.

The sentiment I used is from another favorite set - it's 吾哎加速器便宜from Inky Antics.
